They are just around the corner – some look forward to them, while others dread them – summer days with high temperatures. In many professions, the heat is on in the truest sense of the word. Because safety shoes are mandatory in many jobs, it is worth investing in lighter and breathable footwear, especially in the summer months.

In order to not only keep a “cool head”, but also “cool feet”, safety shoes for the summer should feature a breathable upper material made of textile fabric or sandwich mesh (e.g. Safety Knit® from Albatros) and a mesh lining, so that heat and sweat can be transported to the outside and the foot environment remains comfortable. Just as effective is a breathable insole that absorbs any moisture released and releases it downwards. The Evercushion Custom Fit insole from ALBATROS with multi-width system is made of breathable foam. With its “HYPRO ODOR CONTROL” technology, it offers a specially treated, antibacterial textile surface for good climate regulation and minimized odor formation in the shoe. In addition, there are shoe models that feature the latest technology in penetration protection, such as FAPLite® from Albatros. FAPLite® offers specially developed latest-generation penetration protection with non-metallic, extremely tear-resistant fibers. This makes it 50% lighter than a conventional penetration protector made of textile fibers, offers high flexibility, and thanks to its material properties, offers excellent sweat absorption, breathability and a cooling effect.
Safety sandals offers the best possible active air circulation. Recesses in the shaft cool the feet and provide maximum breathability. The JETSTREAM IMPULSE LOW safety sandal from ALBATROS is a prime example of this. Its upper material consists of high-quality microfiber supplemented by abrasion-resistant textile inserts, making it particularly breathable as well as hard-wearing. The sole made of IMPULSE.Foam provides excellent cushioning and ensures stability and comfort. Ideal for a long day working in the heat. However, due to the special requirements for safety shoes, safety sandals are only available in safety classes S1 and S1P.

If regulations require you to wear class S3 safety shoes, you should pay attention to light and breathable upper materials. Shoes fitted with a membrane are highly suitable for working in particularly wet and damp areas. The membrane forms an extra layer that is water repellent and breathable. A shoe without a membrane, however, does not have this layer and thus allows moisture to better escape. Therefore, if a safety shoe with a membrane is not absolutely necessary, it should be avoided in the summer months in favor of breathability.
Due to their certification, safety shoes of class S3 are already equipped with a water-repellent upper material, which protects against moisture from the outside. With the ULTRATRAIL GREY LOW from ALBATROS, you get the perfect S3 outdoor safety shoe for hot days – the light-colored upper made of full- grain cowhide and abrasion-resistant textile inserts allow for very good moisture transport, while the XTS Trail sole provides grip and stability on a wide variety of surfaces.
Both models are unisex and available in the sizes 36 – 47.
