After several serious accidents involving hook container transport, the Norwegian Accident Investigation Board has provided several safety recommendations to improve safety along Norwegian roads.
Norsk Industri and several other industry actors have collaborated on an industry supervisor that will help improve the safety of using hook containers. In addition to describing secure attachment and locking mechanisms for hook containers, the industry provider provides simple recommendations for criteria for when a hook container should be removed for operation / repair, as well as criteria for maintenance and safe use of hook containers.
Both the Labor Inspectorate and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration have participated as observers in the working group.
