List of Occupational Diseases Published

Five new diseases were recorded

Asbestosis and noise are typical diseases that can be triggered by professional activities. Both have been listed by the Federal Government as a qualifying occupational disease.

The "List of occupational diseases" published by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) in its updated version lists all occupational diseases according to Annex 1 to the Occupational Diseases Ordinance (BKV).

Taking into account new medical research results, the list of eligible occupational diseases was expanded by five diseases on 1 August 2017: leukemia by 1,3-butadiene, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), focal dystonia among instrumentalists, ovarian carcinoma (ovarian cancer) by asbestos and Laryngeal cancer by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH).

The baua: Praxis kompakt "List of occupational diseases" is available on the BAuA website at www.baua.de/publikationen.
