International Gas Detectors Ltd are proud to introduce the release of a new range of PID (VOC) fixed detectors, as well as a new range of portable VOC detectors. These two big additions to our product range allow us to offer a full VOC detector range and provide the best possible detection for our customers. IGD have over a 100+ years manufacturing experience in gas detection and over two decades of PID detection experience.

Igd raising the standard for voc detectors

This vast expertise ensures you are getting the right VOC detector solution with the full support and warranty from a long-established manufacturer, dedicated to just gas detection and gas safety. As the experts in PID detection, it’s important to raise the standard for VOC detectors. Our article below discusses our best-in class VOC detectors and how we are raising the standard in the industry.

What are VOC’s and Where are they Found?

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) are compounds that have a high vapour pressure and low boiling point, meaning they can easily exist as gases or vapours at room temperatures. Many VOCs are human-made chemicals that are used and produced in the manufacture of paints, pharmaceuticals, and refrigerants. VOCs typically are industrial solvents, such as trichloroethylene or by-products produced by chlorination in water treatment, such as chloroform. VOCs are often components of petroleum fuels, Benzene, hydraulic fluids, paint thinners, and dry-cleaning agents.

VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. VOCs are emitted by a wide array of products numbering in the thousands. Examples include paints and lacquers, paint strippers, cleaning supplies, pesticides, building materials and furnishings, office equipment such as copiers and printers, correction fluids and carbonless copy paper, graphics and craft materials including glues and adhesives, permanent markers, and photographic solutions.

All of these products can release organic compounds while you are using them, and, to some degree, when they are stored. VOC detectors in the workplace is an increasing health and safety requirement, particularly where you are working with VOC’s.

Due to the wide range of applications and gas types, different VOC detectors are ideal for specific applications. This being either fixed, such as sampler or safe area etc, or portable, such as multi gas or benzene specific etc. IGD now offer all PID options for the full VOC detector solution.

New Fixed VOC Detectors

The new range of VOC (PID) detectors from IGD are revolutionary in the market. We have been able to utilise our century of expertise and two decades of PID experience, to significantly improve PIDs, allowing us to offer the longest lamp life. This 50% increase in lamp lifetime (in excess of 15,000ppm hrs) is coupled with eliminating sputtering through the non-electrode UV lamp design. Our designs drastically reduce the long-term costs of replacement on fixed VOC detectors as well as eliminating a common PID issues affecting operational costs. Our new PID cells also come with a stainless-steel design on our innovative 2-Wire Sentinel+™ technology. This new design noticeably reduces the cross interference given off from some competing ABS sensor cell designs, commonly used by competitor VOC detectors. IGDs new cells also offer lower PPM level detection, which is difficult on most other detection techniques. Our unique electrode stack design ensures the common issues of humidity interference are negated and does not affect our VOC detectors.

Our VOC detectors utilise our industry first 2-Wire Addressable technology, where each detector is interconnected on a 2-Core cable for both power and communication. In addition, this provides clients not just with a 70% cost saving on installation compared to current technologies but also live digital data. With ATEX/IECEx, safe area and sampling fixed detectors, we now have the complete VOC detector solution for every industry. This was something the industry was missing and now IGD have the go-to solution. Check out below our line of fixed VOC detectors:

  • TOC-750 Safe Area addressable detector
  • TOC-750X ATEX/IECEx addressable detector
  • TOC-750S aspirated addressable detector
  • TOC-903 Standalone ATEX/IECEx detector

New Range of mPower Portable VOC Detectors

IGDs strategic partnership with mPower allows us to offer the most stable level of PPB detection available in VOC detectors on the market. With mPower’s NEO series of portable VOC detectors, we can offer a truly outstanding portable VOC detector. The NEO has excellent linearity over the full measurement range coupled with a long battery life and rugged, durable housing. The NEO is feature rich, lighter weight than most competing models and is best in its class for portable VOC detector and with a Benzene specific version. You can learn more about the PID NEO VOC detector on its product page here, such as all its features and what is supplied. For the NEO Benzene please see here.

The POLI multi gas not only features PIDs as part of a multi gas unit, but also allows for a wide range of exotic gas detection through its plug and play sensors. This multi gas monitor also features up to 6 months of continuous data logging, ideal for survey work. The POLI also features a man down alarm built into the device. These are just some of the features of the POLI multi gas monitor, check out the product page here to learn more.

IGD have over a century of gas detection experience, making us one of the oldest gas detection suppliers in the world. We also have more than two decades of VOC detector experience, so are able to offer high quality advice and training on PIDs. Being specialist in the field also means we have a large service team covering the UK and Ireland as well as one of the largest distributor networks in the world; meaning we can offer full support no matter where you are. IGD also have a list of accreditations including CPD for our aftercare training, as well as ATEX, IECEx and quality procedures such as ISO.

Raising the Standard for VOC Detectors

All of this allows us to set the new standard for detectably better VOC detectors. We are offering revolutionary fixed detector cells through our non-electrode UV lamp, as well as being one of the only companies offering safe area VOC detection on the market. We are also the only company offering VOC detectors on our revolutionary 2-Wire addressable technology, reducing the costs and cabling by 70%. Our partnership with mPower also allows us to offer some of the highest quality portable VOC detectors on the market. This, coupled with our experience allows us to offer the full solution for VOC detection, and truly raises the standard for PID detection.

Accidents in the workplace can happen at any time. While the consequences and outcomes of these incidents are fairly straightforward to see, establishing who is liable for accidents can be a little more challenging.
