FIOH to Create Work Life Database
Database will form depiction of Finnish work life
The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) is to begin construction of a new database and information service that will compile wide-ranging data on work life. Pauli Forma, docent, who has been appointed Director of Data Resources at FIOH as of 1.10.2017, will be responsible for constructing this database.
The database will compile and combine information from different sources of work life, occupational health, work ability, work environment, occupational health services and occupational safety and health. Big data will also be used.
This database will form a depiction of Finnish work life that will be available to everyone. The depiction will serve decision-makers, the media, researchers, and society at large. The construction of the database will be a demanding challenge for co-operation among Finnish producers of statistics and register data.
Pauli Forma, Doctor of Political Sciences, comes to FIOH from Keva, where he was Director of Working Life Services. Forma is a docent at the Universities of Helsinki and Turku, and has extensive experience in using data on well-being at work, work ability and occupational health in research and development activities and in decision-making.
