Specialist UK height safety manufacturer heightec launched their new advanced EGO descender, designed to meet the demands of the rope access industry.
The EGO is a versatile rope access device used for descent, ascent, rescue and hauling. The inherent safety features address known issues with other devices on the market.
Features include a high 200kg load capacity for two person rescue, without the need for an additional karabiner. Mis-threading protection which prevents the device being incorrectly threaded. The progressive secondary brake is intuitive to operate and offers precise control for a more predictable descent. The device handle remains locked in the safe position for all functions except descent, this reduces the need to manipulate the device for functions such as ascent and changeovers.
All components of the EGO are accessible for cleaning and inspection making it ideal for aggressive environments such as offshore, blasting and geotechnics where dirt can ingress.
“It is essential that as designers and manufacturers we continue to innovate and develop solutions to ensure the risks involved with working at height are kept to an absolute minimum”, said Chris Edmondson, Technical Manager.
The EGO has already been reviewed by industry experts and we are delighted with the extremely positive results.
