Approximately 4.3 million BOA® powered safety shoes have been sold in Europe in 2021. A prime example for BOA is the Scandinavian market: 60 % of sold workwear shoes are equipped with the BOA® Fit System. BOA keeps growing at a fast pace, as many committed brand partner constantly extend their dial-based shoe range and new brands get to value the precision fit benefits BOA® provides to workers too – a micro-adjustable fit over a fast and effortless operation up to an increased safety.
THREE PARTS, ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
The BOA® Fit System consists of three integral parts: A micro-adjustable dial for a precision fit, a lightweight and super strong lace, and low-friction lace guides to ensure a smooth closure. The lace stays contained in the dial cartridge and never becomes unintentionally untied. Built with ultra-durable materials and extensively field-tested in the harshest conditions, the BOA® dials and laces are guaranteed for the lifetime of the product on which they are integrated.

INTRODUCING THE NEW BOA® PLATFORM L+1
The latest L+1 dial platform is going to debut on workwear shoes in fall 2022 and brings a new BOA® platform – slightly larger than the existing L-series – to market. As a result, L+1 offers greater power and an increased lace capacity of 50 to 60 cm but keeps a low-profile design, meeting the industry’s need for a BOA® platform specifically designed for ankle boots. With this new development, BOA closes the gap between the L-series for lowcut shoes and the M-series for midand highcut shoes. L+1 can be combined with the BOA® CS2 and CS3 lace. The new platform maintains the precise, micro-adjustability BOA is known for and offers unprecedented durability against impact, abrasion, and dirt contamination. It is designed as a bayonet and cartridge system (like the known L6 and M4 platforms): On severe impact, the cartridge is designed to release from the bayonet. If this happens, the user can insert the cartridge back into the bayonet. It will continue to function properly.

BOA PERFORMANCE FIT LAB: REDEFINING THE FUTURE OF FIT

To learn more about how a shoe’s fit impacts human performance, BOA created the Performance Fit Lab and equipped it with innovative tools for measuring, testing, and validating the biomechanical benefits of BOA® Fit Solutions. With independent scientific studies BOA analyses the improvements in the three from BOA defined crucial movement categories (agility & speed, power & precision, and endurance & health). In the ongoing workwear study, BOA observed as a first preliminary result that the BOA® PerformFitTM Wrap – with foot-wrapping panels activated by side-mounted dials – improves the pressure distribution and the foot’s connection to the midsole, which might lead to a reduced injury risk and an increased efficiency. However, this early look into data provides only a glimpse at how BOA will revolutionize the upper construction of safety shoes to improve user experience, performance, and health in future. To make this happen, BOA plans to conduct a full-scale (30+ person) study to validate the results in 2024. The Solid Gear Venture 2 hits the market as the first workwear shoe with a PerformFitTM Wrap powered by the BOA® Fit System this October.

Already now shoes with the BOA® Fit System enable workers to effortlessly fine-tune fit by turning the dial – even with only one hand while wearing gloves – to accommodate foot swell and the task at hand. Here are some of the latest BOA® powered safety shoes, giving workers the confidence that they will fit from start to finish of a long day on the job:
