3M has doubled the number of its popular free-to-attend Safety Network Live events for 2017, in response to high demand and positive feedback.
The science-based technology company will host four Safety Network Live events across the UK this year, up from two in 2016 and just one in 2015, when the events first launched.
The events offer an opportunity for health and safety professionals from a range of industries to build their expertise by listening to and participating in a series of informative talks.
More than 100 health and safety managers, equipment purchasers and company owners attended last year’s events, and 3M is expecting an even higher turnout this time around.
The company has announced details of its first 2017 event, which will kick off at the Old Trafford football ground in Manchester on 27 June, running from 09.00 to 16.00.
Visitors will hear informative talks from experts on a range of safety issues throughout the day, while also being given the chance to participate in discussions.
After breakfast and a brief welcome, two interactive talks will be given for all guests to listen to and take part in.
The first will be given by Marcus Webb, communication specialist at training consultancy company UK BodyTalk. Marcus will discuss how managers can gain buy-in and get their health and safety message across effectively to their workforce.
The second talk will be led by David Fox, a chartered psychologist at the Health and Safety Laboratory in Buxton. David will discuss how to recognise and tackle workplace stress.
After lunch, visitors will be able to choose between three talks, which will be held simultaneously.
Rob Brill, technical manager at 3M, will discuss the science of safety. This session will explore the use of various tools and techniques to help assess and improve PPE compliance in your organisation.
Stephen Morris, UK fall protection technical specialist at 3M, will discuss working at height, fall protection and confined space access.
Meanwhile, Theo Simon, technical service specialist at 3M, will give a session to provide practical advice to help you manage Hand-Arm Vibration in the workplace.
After a short break, training provider 2macs will lead an interactive session for all attendees, role-playing a workplace safety scenario.
Kim Brewer, marketing manager for the 3M Personal Safety division, said: “3M’s Safety Network Live events are growing every year, and we’re looking forward to our biggest and best line-up ever in 2017.
“Feedback from last year was extremely encouraging, and we’ve used it to tailor our offering for this year.
“We’ve got some great speakers booked for the first event in Manchester, so I encourage everyone involved in health and safety to register now in order to secure their place.”
3M will host its second Safety Network Live event of the year in Dublin on 14 September. This will be followed by an event in Glasgow on 28 September. The final event will be held the company’s UK head office, in Bracknell, Berkshire, on 5 October.
Further details of these events will be announced nearer the time.
