As the initiative is focused on combatting non-compliance by putting employees at the forefront of the personal protective equipment (PPE) decision-making process, the science-based technology company is offering five workshops to help facilitate discussion and engage employees in health and safety.
Following a consultation with a 3M PPE specialist, the winners will be able to choose a session focused on either respiratory, hearing or eye protection. They will be able to tailor the session based on any PPE issues they may have had and pre-select products for their team to try on and discuss.
Specialists from 3M will then travel to the winners’ sites, where they will provide a talk on the importance of wearing PPE correctly during all periods of exposure, before facilitating a session where workers can try on different types of PPE. The winning companies will then be given a selection of products chosen by the employees, free of charge.
Richard Davies, senior marketer at 3M, said: “The Workers’ Choice campaign is all about giving employees a choice when selecting PPE because we know if they are happy with their protection and find it comfortable, they are much more likely to use it correctly.
“By launching this competition, we hope to help health and safety managers provide this choice and increase engagement in workplace health and safety.”
For a chance to win, all you have to do is answer the following question;
- Why do you think it is important to give workers a choice in the PPE they wear?
Answers can be submitted by visiting http://www.3M.co.uk/workerschoices and the deadline for entries is 31 August 2016.
