Under the motto “Successful against asbestos”, the 12th German Hazardous Substances Protection Prize seeks out innovative concepts and practical solutions for the protection of employees.
Despite its prohibition in 1993, the former “miracle mineral” asbestos endangers the workers today. In particular, maintenance work on and in buildings built before 1993 can release the dangerous fibers and endanger workers but also users. The application deadline for the Dangerous Goods Protection Prize, which amounts to € 10,000, will run until April 15, 2018.
The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs aims to award the 2018 Special Protection Prize in particular practical solutions that protect workers in their existing buildings from asbestos. We are looking for new opportunities for low-emission work in asbestos pollution. Also priced are new training concepts and measures for the qualification of employees. It also recognizes actions and projects that provide workers with comprehensive information on the dangers posed by asbestos and at the same time make them aware of safe working practices.
Individuals, groups of people, companies and organizations can participate in the German Hazardous Substances Award. Nominations for the prize are accepted by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) in Dortmund until 15 April 2018. The documents should include a characterization of the participant, the nature of the actions taken and the achieved or expected improvement. This information should also be summarized on one page.
