Personal protective equipment (PPE) in the healthcare industry will be the topic of the next webinar in 3M’s Safety Spotlight Webinar Series.
The science-based technology company’s sixth webinar of the free series, titled ‘PPE Use Within a Healthcare Environment’, will run from 12.15 to 13.00 on 17 May.
It will be jointly hosted by Jo Cobley, clinical services manager for the 3M Health Care Markets division, and Alan McArthur, UK technical services supervisor for the company’s Personal Safety division.
They will discuss the role PPE plays in protecting healthcare workers, both during their day-to-day work and in special circumstances, such as an influenza pandemic.
Specific topics will include the hazards faced by healthcare workers; the role of PPE and its place within guidance documents; managing a fit testing programme within the healthcare sector; and establishing appropriate policies to ensure correct use, handling and potential re-use of PPE.
The webinar will be aimed at everyone within the healthcare industry who requires or is otherwise involved with PPE, from employers and purchasers to staff.
During and after the presentation, which will be broadcast live online, participants will be able to ask questions in real time.
Jo said: “PPE has a vital role to play in the healthcare industry, which is important not to overlook as it affects the health of both patients and staff.”
Alan added: “This is an excellent opportunity for those involved in purchasing PPE or monitoring its use within the healthcare industry to benefit from 3M’s expertise in this sector.
“I encourage people to register online and pass on the information to their colleagues ahead of 17 May.”
