“I feel absolutely proud and privileged to be CEO of NEBOSH”
said Ian Taylor, two-time Olympic field hockey medallist for Great Britain, who was appointed NEBOSH CEO in October 2018.
Winning Bronze at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and Britain’s First Olympic Hockey Gold at the 1988 Seoul games, Ian has always aimed high and these attributes have transferred impeccably to his current role.

Ian said: “My sporting background has been an influence wherever I’ve been and in any job. I’m very much about winning. I take it into business life through team spirit and team building.”
Having already made the best even better with NEBOSH’s new-look general certificate, CEO Ian Taylor is set to keep up this trajectory with not one, not two, but 10 new products to unveil in the next six months. The first of which was announced at Health & Safety North: Safety Simplified.
Safety Simplified is a three-day practical course, with augmented reality immersed into its core and covering seven hazard scenarios including: noise, vibration, mechanical hazards, and working at height.
Ian said: “At NEBOSH we believe that getting home safe at the end of the day is a right, not a privilege. Every year 1.4 million people suffer from work-related injuries and ill-health. This costs UK organisations £15 billion. These are huge numbers and let’s not forget, behind these statistics are real people whose lives have been affected.
“The whole point of this is making it accessible for everyone. Health and safety is for all, not just health and safety practitioners. By creating safer places to work, staff will be better protected – and that’s good for everyone.”
Bolstered by brilliant staff and supportive trustees, under Ian’s reign NEBOSH has been totally restructured, now focussing on learners. They also have a new building, used as the R+D lab so augmented reality training can be developed in house.
With flexible ‘on the day’ registrations and the ability to deliver Safety Simplified to a specific organisation’s needs, any employee, anywhere in the world, can complete the course.
