Drones will be used during summer months to ensure that construction sites comply with the midday break law.
The midday break law bans outdoor work under direct sunlight between noon and 3:30pm during the summer months to protect workers. To ensure that employers comply with this law, the UAE’s Ministry of Labour will fly drones over work sites.
Arabian Business reported that the drones will be able to cover an area of two square kilometres within 15 to 20 minutes, and are capable of reaching altitudes of up to one kilometre.
Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour, said the drones will prove to be time efficient for the ministry’s inspectors. He added: “It is very accurate and definitely saves the inspectors time and effort, as it allows the team to monitor every movement from the screen attached on the remote control then note any violations by taking close pictures.”
